Oleg Korneev wins 2nd Laimer Pfingst Open 2023, Souhardo second and ShyamSundar third

GM Oleg Korneev, IM Souhardo Basak and GM ShyamSundar M scored 7/9 each at 2nd Laimer Pfingst Open A (>1800) 2023. Korneev won the tournament due to better tie-breaks, Souhardo was placed adjuged second and ShyamSundar third. All three of them remained undefeated. Korneev drew with Souhardo in the fifth round and Souhardo shared the point against ShyamSundar in the following. The top three prizes were €1500, €1000 and €600 each respectively. GM Deepan Chakkravarthy and IM Nitin S are the only two other Indians to make a top ten finish. They scored 6.5/9 and 6/9 each to secure fifth and tenth place respectively. Photo: Shahid Ahmed

A total of 90 players including 6 GMs, 4 IMs, a WGM and a WIM took part from 16 countries across the world in Open A (>1800) this five-day nine round Swiss-league Rating tournament which was organized by Richard Holzberger at DJH Youth Hostel in Munich, Germany from 26th to 30th May 2023. The time control of the event was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
